BEGINNERS CLASS This class is for the Beginners level in taekwondo ( white belt to green tip ) Ages from 8 to 12 years old The schedule is Saturday Class is now open 10:00 to 11:30 am ( Figth clud ) The beginners program curriculum consists of developing 8 Major Skills that are necessary for participation in any sport or activity. Upon completion of our beginners program your child will become focused and motivated to achieve any goal they set in life! The beginners skill requirements are composed of physical and mental benefits. The following are the skills with the benefits from participating in the beginners program : Skill # 1: FOCUS – This skill will help your child’s aim, listening skills and reaction skills. They will excel faster in any physical activities. Your child will also become a better listener and a more focused student in school. Skill # 2: TEAMWORK – Teamwork is necessary for any young child to develop. The more confident your child is willing to work with others, the more he or she will accomplish. Your child will develop character, which will help him or her make new friends and become a better leader in life. Skill # 3: CONTROL – Having control means making good decisions. Whether your child is handling a pet or handling a problem he or she will learn to make the right decisions. Control builds confidence. Skill # 4: BALANCE – This skill is crucial to develop at an early age. Your child is beginning to participate in many physical activities that are challenging like riding a two-wheel bicycle. Your child will develop good balance and a better posture. Skill # 5: MEMORY – Developing a good memory is exercise for your child’s brain. The sooner your child exercises the smarter he or she will become. Our drills are constantly helping your child think and make smart decisions. Skill # 6: DISCIPLINE – Our instructors use the Little Ninja drills to help create the vision that discipline is fun and rewarding. Your child will take pride in doing the right thing. Your child will also follow direction better. Skill # 7: FITNESS – It is important for children to understand the importance of being healthy and physically fit. If your child does not burn off excess energy exercising, how will he or she burn off all of that energy? Skill # 8: COORDINATION – Your child will learn left from right. They will become better physical participants in sports and activities. Your child will sustain fewer injuries because they have better coordination. Typical Questions about Beginners Class How many classes per week should I attend? We recommend 4 classes per week with a minimum of 3, plus a certain amount of practice time in between classes as the perfect level of training. This allows the student time to work on material between classes and become proficient before new concepts are introduced. Will Family Taekwondo School program make my child overly aggressive? At Family Taekowndo School, children are taught that the martial arts are not to be used in aggression, but rather to defend oneself in problematic situations. Aggressive behavior is channelled into assertiveness to increase the child's self esteem, increase sef discipline and build character. Our program also helps the shy child to develop self confidence and become more assertive. Will my classes be safe? Absolutely. All classes taught at Family Taekwondo School are strictly monitored to ensure complete safety. What about sparring? You will learn safely through a step-by-step systematic method of gradually learned sparring strategies. In addition, all students are required to wear a complete set of safety equipment. Consequently, the chance of injury is very small. At Family Taekwondo School, sparring is easy to learn and lots of fun. Why do martial artists bow? Bowing demonstrates sincerity and respect along with the deep appreciation of oneself and of others. It also teaches us to be humble while training to become strong and confident in both body and mind. Bowing is simply an Eastern form of greeting. It is equivalent to the Western handshake. Why do martial artists yell? Yelling has several purposes: Develops physical and mental strength, while gathering energy. Breaks an opponent’s concentration, and Is used to communicate with a partner in a group practice Yell practice must be from the abdomen (dan jun), which we call "energy field".
